Probably not Tim, however to do it via fstab...
Example fstab entry ( you may want to add 'server' to hosts file ):
//server/share /mnt/mountpoint cifs ro,uid=username,gid=group,credentials=/etc/samba/smb.auth 0 0
Contents of /etc/samba/smb.auth ( protect appropriately ) :
username=username password=whatever
I dont think we can use it in /etc/fstab anymore. Use /etc/samba/smbfstab instead. From Suse 9.3, i dont use /etc/fstab cause it gives me errors whenever i start it.
I'm having an even more basic problem at the moment, using Konqueror I can get into the share fine, but trying:- sudo smbmount //server/share/ /mnt/K-drive -o rw,uid=me,gid=users,username=login,debug=4 leads to:- 11997: session request ok Password: <entered password> cli_session_setup: NT1 session setup failed! 11997: session setup failed: ERRDOS - ERRnoaccess (Access denied.) SMB connection failed So somehow its refusing to authenticate me this way although it does via konqueror! -- Tim Nicholson http://www.bbc.co.uk/ This e-mail (and any attachments) is confidential and may contain personal views which are not the views of the BBC unless specifically stated.
