Over the years (decades), I done a lot of things with Unix/Linux, but I don't recall ever having a need to run a service in 3, that I couldn't run in 5.
Then look again: gpm :-)
Can't say I've ever knowingly used it. Does it work with 12.2 / systemd?
If not, has it been bugzilla'd.
It does not have a native service unit and its development stopped in 2009. it will probably has to go.. ;)
I use gpm occasionally. Just last week an upgrade on one of my laptops left me with no working X thanks to kernel and xorg changes. So I spent almost a week using wicd-curses, lynx and gpm. It's the easiest way to cut/paste things between virtual consoles. The rarity with which you use something or the length of time since someone had some reason to modify it should really not automatically imply "...will probably have to go". That's user-unfriendly in the extreme. -- bkw -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
