bge = boardcom
igb = intel
Or to the way Fedora doing it?
p1p1 = eth0 boardcom
I think the bsd nice because you can tell what card you work with.

Absolutely horrible.
It will break god-knows how many scripts.
If you are so eager to find out some details about the card, use hwinfo
or ethtool.
If they need to give the interfaces some other name, that is already bad
enough. But keep all ethernet interfaces the same name!!!!!!!!
