Now that could be geting a little scary last time i had that response it was the Hdd going legs up i recovered it for a while then it went totaly dead big pain as the laet backup im had was too old to be of any use ..

/proc/stat isn't an executable. That's why it gives 'Permission denied'. That's the same error you'll get if you try to run any other file that isn't executable. It has nothing to do with a hard drive. In fact, the /proc filesystem isn't even on a hard drive. Michael -- San Francisco, CA
