Hello:
I've been using adobe flash player in firefox browser to listen to live radio stream and it practically never crashed. Recently I've changed my mobo and processor with built in intel graphics. Previously I had standalone nvidia graphics card and used nvidia proprietary driver with nomodeset option in grub.
:-?
Which part don't you understand? Maybe should have I written "I used regularly" instead of "I've been using"?
No, I had doubts about "nomodeset" with nvidia. «The newest kernels have moved the video mode setting into the kernel. So all the programming of the hardware specific clock rates and registers on the video card happen in the kernel rather than in the X driver when the X server starts.. This makes it possible to have high resolution nice looking splash (boot) screens and flicker free transitions from boot splash to login screen. Unfortunately, on some cards this doesnt work properly and you end up with a black screen. Adding the nomodeset parameter instructs the kernel to not load video drivers and use BIOS modes instead until X is loaded.»
On the other hand, the Intel graphics driver is integrated in the kernel, and yours will be old.
How to update an intel graphics driver without upgrading the kernel (that is, my whole system in my case)?
I don't know, sorry. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 13.1 x86_64 "Bottle" at Telcontar)
