If I install it, will it be a good example of the purchased version (less many packages, of course) and give me a good idea as to what the full version will be like, or does it fundamentally differ from the bought edition? I'd like to test it before considering buying, especially as my 10.0 is running well.
The short answer is "yes". I installed this, and it seems fine. Install Smart, then upgrade Smart from Pascal's site, and you will get full access to all existing packages.
This month's Linux Format (UK) also has 10.1 as the cover DVD, but I haven't used this one yet so I can't say if there are any differences.
Thanks for your reply, Kevin. The information you gave, is just what I was looking for. So, the Linux Magazine DVD seems to be the final version and not a beta version. That's good news! I'll install 10.1 from the cover DVD, install Smart, and look at the other packages as you suggest.
