Hello Can anyone recommend a way to copy the suse CDs to hard drive and use them from Yast? I have the disks copied to HDD, but adding them as an install location to yast only works for disk1, the rest say there is no installation media. I have a remote computer which I want to install software on using yast, so i cannot change the CDs all the time (please dont tell me to use the DVD! ;) Anyone managed this? Thanks, H
I have copied each CD to directories /SuSE/9.1/CD1 to /SuSE/9.1/CD5 and exported /SuSE/9.1 via NFS (see /etc/exports). When installing, specify NFS as the transport mechanism and /SuSE/9.1/CD1 as the source directory. The installer automatically knows to go to ../CD2-5 when required. As an added feature I usually make /SuSE on its own partition and mount it read-only. I think that from 9.2 onwards, you are expected to use the SLP service to make a central repository available but I have not done that.
