Greetings All! The File: /home/user/.kde/share/config/kdeglobals it's permissions keep getting changed to owner root and when it does so it makes the desktop settings change. I looked in various scripts and can't find what is changing the permissions on this file. I wonder if perhaps nobody is attempting to answer this question as it may be a bug. I see that I myself have answered this question. http://lists.suse.com/archive/suse-linux-e/2001-Aug/0787.html But the funny thing is today I don't have SuSE-wizard installed and the exact same problem is happening. So I admit openly, I was wrong, this is NOT the fix. So I do more searching, and it seems that the German version of this question is going around as well. (With no answer yet I might add.) http://lists.suse.com/archive/suse-linux/2001-Jul/4673.html this is a nasty little problem that causes a lot of hassle when ever someone thinks they are changing the settings it isn't saved (Obviously since the file is being owned by root) Now I am starting to get concerned about the entire directory /home/user/.kde/share/config/ Why are file permissions being changed in this directory and How can I set a trap on one or more files to catch the culprit program that changes the permission / ownership of these files. Why are the permissions being changed in this directory? If I could figure out why, then maybe I can figure out how. There has to be a way to make a log file somewhere that will figure out what is changing the permission on the file. I am not sure how to go about that. If it's a cronjob that's changing it, I am not seeing which one. I have ran harden_suse on the box[s] (yeah that's plural more than one box has this problem) this is effecting.
