locate kppprc returns nothing even though the file exists - does anyone know why this should be? Where is the locate database and how is it configured? Can I force updatedb to go through everything under ~? The man page seems to suggest you can run updatedb with a specific path, but I want this path to be a permanent search path. I appreciate this would probably be a bad idea under a networked system with lots of users with private files, but there's just *me*, and I very frequently grep the output of locate to find things!
