Hello,
Just installed openSUSE 11.3 and this error comes up during boot.
Starting Name Service Cache Daemonbind(/var/run/nscd/socket): No such file or directory startproc: exit status of parent of /usr/sbin/nscd: 1
Installing nscd - Name Service Caching Daemon and deinstallation of unscd-0.45-5.1.i586 sorted the issue but how was this bug missed!
Secondly remote installation does not work in 64bit version. During installation vnc=1 vncpassword=PASSWORD would start the remote installation and I used to connect via the browser http://ipaddress:5801 32bit version works fine but 64bit does not work.
I strongly feel that an updated media must be released (openSUSE 11.31) after a while with all ths minor bugs cleaned!

I seriously doubt new DVD images will be released with any fixes, but given your issue with remote installation I guess its possible. But posting it here is not going to be effectively very likely. This mailing list is primarily for end user questions and support. If you want to communicate with the core team such as the openSUSE board, this is not the place. I would subscribe and post at least to the opensuse-project mailing list. But there maybe one even more relevant than that. FYI: For none install related issues, the openSUSE model at this point definitely seems to assume users will apply patches from the update repo so issues on the DVD media get resolved that way. If people have systems that are not on the Internet or can't get to the update repo for some reason, they have to figure out a way to download the patches of interest and install them. I don't know if that is described on the wiki or not. Greg -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
