Still, is the general consensus that these huge drives aren't really reliable for longer than say 1.6 years? and by two full years of service one could expect a failure?
We have a few Maxtor and a few Hitachi. We have had the Maxtor ones longer... Over 3 years going 24/7. (4 200 gig and 2 250 gig) The only drives we have die are Western Digital (one 120 gig is out now for warrantee replacement) and a "deathstar"... As far as USB or firewire drives... What do you think are in those enclosures? (Hint-not scsi) -- Thanks, George Failure is not an option with Microsoft; it's bundled with the software!
