grep -w DISPLAYMANAGER /etc/sysconfig/displaymanager
One possible result would be:
DISPLAYMANAGER="lightdm"
And it again shows: $ grep -w DISPLAYMANAGER /etc/sysconfig/displaymanager DISPLAYMANAGER="kdm4"
James, you can find the desktop you are using, if you really don't know which it is (unbelievable!), this way. Run this in a terminal:
ps afxu | less -S
Search (/) for the string "/usr/bin/X". You may see something different but equivalent to this:
