Greetings......
First of all, I have a Epson Stylus Pro. In the beginning I thought that it was a WINGUI printer, but extensive search at the epson ftp site revealed that However, a cat /proc/devices shows me that I have no lp devices.
What gives......I thought that the LPT ports are set up during installation process.
Can anyone please help me on how to set up my system so that the LPT port works?
First as root, enter cat somefile > /dev/lp1 If it prints, then you know you are on lp1. Then install your printer with Yast and select lp1 for the parallel port. You may need to go into your bios and make sure your parallel port to enabled, and either EPP or ECP mode enabled. Also, in Yast, Configuration File, edit it, to start the lpd daemon at startup. You need to do this!!!! - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e Check out the SuSE-FAQ at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/"><A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A">http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/ and the archiv at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html"><A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A">http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html
