Well, I don't have any sony devices, so I can understand why it would say that.
I don't know the why this message is appearing, but to stop it you can just add the module to /etc/hotplug/blacklist (edit this file as root with a text editor).

Thanks for the info. I hadn't done anything on this yet and don't plan to until tomorrow, so I hadn't tried modifying the modprobe.conf file yet. I'll try your suggestion of adding it to the blacklist first. Seems to be a cleaner approach than commenting out lines in modprobe.conf (in that you're specifying a specific override in a file that is set up for specifying overrides). Thanks, Greg Wallace
