Hello,
Just wondering if fb support is compiled into the stock kernel. I saw Philipp's posting re: the G400 and started playing around but it doesn't look like it is compiled in. When frame buffer support was first added to the kernel (2.2?) I was using RH and re-compiled to take advantage of it. Do I need to recompile with SuSE also?
VESA FB is, but Matrox FB is not. By some miracle, my i810 workstation here at work has been replaced by an Athlon 550 with an ATI Rage XL AGP card. I've noticed that the 2.2 series kernel has a frame buffer for ATI cards, too...suppose I have some reading to do today ;).
I can't even seem to get the VESA FB going. I've got VGA=ASK in my lilo.conf but when I re-boot none of the numbers I enter are valid. I try to ask for the modes and I only get a list of the text modes. What do I need to do to use the VESA FB?
