Being new to Linux I had just got my version installed on an 814Mb alongside MSDOS dual booting with LILO. On the first boot, LILO went beautifully, then.... half-way through the boot.... disaster struck! (I gotta make this sound good!!) The message "/dev/hda4 [my /usr partition] contains errors. Check forced." appeared. Then it chuntered away for a while.... until loads of errors started appearing on screen.(stuff like sector not found, sector id not found, ide reset.... can't remember exactly or write it down.. it's scrolled off screen. Now the screen is telling me to RUN FSCK MANUALLY, please repair and reboot. My question? How do I repair? I have a rescue disk but no idea how to use it! (D'OH) (.... I would probably say RTFM but the manuals are installed on the linux system which is not functioning at present!) Anyone forthcoming with wonderful ideas?
