Can anyone recommend a good, inexpensive laptop that will work with SuSE 9.0? I need one fairly quickly and can't afford the time to have lots of problems getting it running. I need network and modem access.
It doesn't need to be a speed demon, just reliable.
TIA,
IBM ThinkPads tend to be good for Linux. I have an R31, on which I have run Red Hat 7.3 and SuSE 9.0 & 9.1. After applying a kernel option to fix a Trackpoint problem, it runs fine in 9.1.
And I've got an X31 which runs 9.1 really well. Only issue unsolved for me is an error on startup that powersavd isn't running (but KDE's power saving stuff works). 9.1 even found the built-in IBM 802.11/a/b/g perfectly. I wouldn't call Thinkpads "inexpensive" though. Malke -- "And that's how we learned our lesson!" - Bender
