I've kind of got the opposite problem. The thing always works, even when I remove the original entry out of the XF86Config file. I'm trying to use an external mouse/keyboard and monitor. It all works except the mouse. It's just a standard PS2 MS Intellimouse with a scroll wheel. It worked fine under 9.0, but 9.1 just does not seem to want to work with it. Anyone got any ideas? --
The solution is simple. after you get all fired up, go to a terminal like CTL- ALT- F1 and then su to root. Then init 3 and type sax2 When sax comes up look for the mouse settings and select synaptic, touchpad. Save it all and now the touchpad tapping will work. Oh, you will have to do Init 5 or startx to get back to your screen. If it is to sensitive then go into the Control Center and find the mouse page - under peripherals and play with the mouse settings. My Dell works much better with Pointer accel @2x, drag start time=500msec, Drag start distance=4 pixels, and pointer threshold= 4 pixels. Play with them and you can find some happy setting. At least my Dell is now tolerable. I just wish I could find a way to disable the touchpad scrolling feature and life would be perfect. Well, maybe not perfect, but just a helluva lot nicer.
