In an attempt to overcome problems of constantly being asked for my NT details, I have installed smbpwman which is supposed to overcome these problems.

Can anyone enlighten me?
I think (having spent the last couple of weeks banging my head on pam authentication) that you need to change /etc/pam.d/login and add the line
auth optional /lib/security/pam_smbpw.so
after the line that includes winbind/ldap/local/whatever authentication system you use and then restart samba.
I have several "auth" lines and have added it after that. This does not appear to have made any difference, I am still getting requests for my auth details whenever I try to browse the remote share, rather than just the once when I first go there! -- Tim Nicholson BBCi at http://www.bbc.co.uk/ This e-mail (and any attachments) is confidential and may contain personal views which are not the views of the BBC unless specifically stated.
