I agree with James. The corporate worry may not even be about themselves but about the impression on any customers etc who might happen to see it. It takes a bold IT guy to be willing to argue the toss against anybody (management, marketing?) who might raise an objection later. Far simpler to just make things look 'professional' from the start.
