I have an Asus Geforce 8600 GT PCI-E with 512MB DDR2 memory and it works excellent, no problems here with the Nvidia driver. nor with the 32bit and 64bit driver. running kernel 2.6.22.17-0.1-default Thanks Ian. I take it lspci lists it properly too?
yes, This is the output of lspci -vvv
Am I reading that wrong, or does your card actually have 256 MB of RAM?
No my card has 512 MB RAM.
When i open "NVIDIA X Server Settings", and then select "GPU 0- (Geforce 8600 GT)" i get the Graphics Card Information and there i can see that i have 512 MB. Just like on the box where the card was in when i bought it :)
i don't understand the information below
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation GeForce 8600 GT ... Region 0: Memory at fd000000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=16M] Region 1: Memory at d0000000 (64-bit, prefetchable) [size=256M] Region 3: Memory at fa000000 (64-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=32M] Region 5: I/O ports at bc00 [size=128] ...
