The bootdisk image referenced below was for 6.2, so presumably it contains an older kernel. Has a new version synchronized for 6.3 been created? Thanks, Ray Slade wrote:

Looked through the 6.3 stuff on the web page and didn't see any reference to an Athlon boot disk. Is a special disk still needed to get a system up and running on an Athlon, or will the stock 6.3 install disk work?
Thanks, Ray

Symptom:
Installation/Booting fails on a machine equipped with an AMD Athlon/K7-CPU.
Cause:
The current Linux kernel does not have proper MTRR-support compiled in.
Solution:
You need a different Bootdisk than the one shipped - the bootdisk-image is available on our ftp-site: ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/i386/update/6.2/disks/athlon
To create a bootdiskette from the bootdisk-image, please refer to the SuSE Linux manual, chapter 2.7.3 (DOS) or 2.7.4 (Unix/Linux).
