[opensuse] 12.3 power off issue with multicore?

I've read some threads in the past about symptoms similar to my long experience of the power off problem (doesn't power off but restarts). One of them said it's a problem with multicore CPU (mine is Athlonx2 64). Is it still an active problem w/ 12.3? Mine still does even after I re-built my machine with 12.3.
