When I installed 7.2 six months ago I gave the new KDevelop a try, but was stymied by the change in the GUI dialog design paradigm. What use to be built into KDevelop and accessible by clicking on a dialog element in the tree in the left panel wasn't present in the new version of KDE and there and there were no clear (understandable) instructions on how to access the GUI window to add components and generally design the user GUI interface for your project. Anyway, Kylix came out and I bought a copy, installed it, and spent the last six months playing with Kylix and PostgreSQL. When I installed 7.3 yesterday I decided this afternoon to try the latest release of KDevelop. I was amazed again to find out that access to the GUI frontend of a project is still concealed in a mystery, wrapped in an enigmia. When I 'make' and execute the project I get the standard GUI window with default menu options, so I know it is there, in source. When I click the QtDesigner icon or select it from the KDevelop menu, QtDesigner comes up. However, when I browse for the project GUI window in the tutorial 'Kscribble' project directory none can be found. Where is it. How can I get to it? When I used the AppWizard to generate the 'Kscribble' project it gave me the following messages: autoconf 2.50 is currently not supported at admin/conf.change.pl line 94, <> line 788. warning: KScribbleDoc inherits unknown class 'QObject' warning: KScribbleView inherits unknown class 'QWidget' warning: KScribbleApp inherits unknown class 'KMainWindow' QWidget hasn't a reference. at /opt/kde2/share/kdoc/kdocHTMLutil.pm line 576, <SOURCE> line 346. But, as shown below, the app compiles and runs, with additional error msags that show in "stderr" when "KScribble" is executed and while the view dialog is showing: kio (KProtocolInfo): ERROR: Protocol '' not found kscribble: WARNING: KDE detected X Error: BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes) 8 Major opcode: 42 What is the magic incantation?
