I am discovering that I can't find an available stratum 2 time server, after trying all the closest ntp servers physically near (and some not close but open access). This has been happening for maybe 2 weeks or so. Has something changed, or is this related to all the worms/viruses running around wasting bandwidth? "ntpdate -b <time server>" used to work. I just looked through the update messages and noticed there may have been an xntp update a couple of weeks ago (message date is Aug 28). Could the update have broken ntp? I doubt this as I have Windows clients that can no longer sync as well. Strange... Any ideas? Is it working for anyone now?
I'm currently running xntp-4.1.1-261 with no problems at all. The NTP daemon points to two internal NTP servers I've got on my network which, at the same time, point to several stratum 2 NTP servers located in France, Germany, Spain and United States. Have you tried running "ntptrace localhost" or "ntpq pe" to gather additional information?
