You don't use the Linux in Android. You can not run daemons and your own jobs. You can not even read the system logs.
That is not so. There are many tools, even in the play store, for looking 'under the hood'. There are a number of things that amount to reverse proxy servers which can make my tablet act like a file server or a sshd.
