I've been playing around with SB PCI128 on a user's machine - great sounding card for little dosh. How's support under Linux - do I need Alsa or is there a suitable kernel driver?

Hi Paul, there IS support for PCI 128, the module is either "ess170.o" or "ess171.o", depending on which chipset your soundcard has inside. With mine, it's ess170. You can find the relevant lines in "/etc/conf.modules" already, but yopu still have to undo the comment signs. Instead, put a comment sign in front of the lines reading like alias sound off alias ... off (I don't know them by heart, but there are three of them.)
