i have only written down a note that tells me "do not install ibus" but not why, maybe the problem is now gone?
Can't speak for others, on my systems ibus is loccked (out) because it interfered with XCompose, mainly in XTerms. Not sure if that is still the case, but XCompose does all I need, so why bother?
