Azureus is not a server or daemon process, it's an interactive GUI-based program written in Java. In its installation directory there is a shell script named "azureus". Running this command will start Azureus. It will run continuously after you set up some torrents and act like a server, but the GUI is always an aspect of its operation.
Hi Randall.
I have just installed azureus as you did it using a tarball. But I have problems with the default port on my server, as its occupied but my windowz azureus, and I have tested the ports up/down from the 6881. What would you suggest me to do ?.

Erik, You can use any port in Azureus, but you must also open that port for incoming traffic in your firewall, and route the traffic to the IP where your Azureus runs. I have 4 Azureus processes running on different boxes, no problems at all, just set a unique port for every instance, and unsure it's opened and routed in the firewall.
Hi Anders.
Hi Anders. I receive this message if I open Azureus.
"If you have a router/firewall, please check that you have port 6881 UDP open. Decentralized tracking requires this."
What am I doing here?
Either deactivate Decentralized tracking, or change its port, or open up the firewall.. :) -- Anders Norrbring Norrbring Consulting
