Looks like SuSE has caught up and modified their modutils package. The SuSE modutils package is on the 9.0 DVD and CD1, however, if module-init-tools work fine, I'd leave it as I've had problems in the past switching back and forth with the .old binaries not being found when booting 2.4 kernels .... inserting modules failed .... insmod.old - no such file type messages. Then the only solution was to remove the binaries from /sbin and reinstall the SuSE modutils - that was under 8.x. Regards Sid. If it is boot time you get some depmed newer or old time error message which comes after editing /etc/modules.conf - try running "depmod -a" This will correct the timestamp error message. Also try "modprobe \*" and then "lsmod".
Thanks to the person sending the "generate-modprobe.conf" program. That was a new one for me. I guess I should spend sometime looking in /sbin and /usr/sbin . -- 73 de Donn Washburn __ " http://www.hal-pc.org/~n5xwb " Ham Callsign N5XWB / / __ __ __ __ __ __ __ 307 Savoy St. / /__ / / / \/ / / /_/ / \ \/ / Sugar Land, TX 77478 /_____/ /_/ /_/\__/ /_____/ /_/\_\ LL# 1.281.242.3256 a MSDOS Virus "Free Zone" OS Email: n5xwb@hal-pc.org " http://counter.li.org " #279316
