Somebody pointed out that 2.2.x series kernels should use kmod but both SuSE 6.1 and 6.3 ship with kerneld [I'm assuming 6.2 is the same] Should I care? Everything works fine-) But still I'm curious.
And, will kerneld be started or is it running on your System ? No. kerneld will be shipped if somebody needs to boot a 2.0.x kernel.
The reason I'm asking is somebody off list was trying to use kernel 2.2.14 with SuSE 6.1. He got a message telling him to use kmod. Having never seen the message I went and read the docs. Which led me to ask here. So basically we have nothing to worry about with kerneld instead of kmod plus it lets us run 2.0.x series kernels? His system isn't autoloading any modules on boot with 2.2.14. I think he may have misconfigured his kernel but I'm just guessing at the moment.
