Not necesarry since I have the original package which already has the two ploppies boot and modules

That is the problem point what ever I do nothing happens. I choose plip and I expect the plip config parameters box to appear but nothing happens.
I actually don't know about PLIP configuration, but maybe you should consult the support database. Just an idea ...
But possibly you will fail. Yeap I do on the otherhand is there a way to over come this ?
Maybe you should rethink whether it has to be a 6.4 on this small system -- I would recommend a <= 6.2 an manual upgrades if you really need the newer software.
