The other day the mains power failed (the house earth fault switch triggered), and the mini server went down, its UPS could not take the load for maybe the 2 minutes it took me to notice and reset the switch. The other two UPS in the house took the load just fine.
Chuckling...
You recall the ice storm in Texas if February? I was without power for 6 days 6 hours and the temperature got down to -3 F (41 inside...). No UPS on earth would have saved me :)
Oh, it would. One with gasoline instead of sulphuric in its veins ;-p Nah, I don't have one, either. The worst power failure I suffered has been a night. Well, once the entire wiring in the first floor had to be replaced, so I had an extension cable from downstairs to feed things. I don't think an internet failure (means internet, phone and tv) during an entire weekend counts. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 15.2 x86_64 at Telcontar) (18.5°C inside the house now)
