Dear All,
I recently enabled SCSI emulation to be able to use my HP-CD writer. Everything works fine (writing, listening to cd's on the other --also IDE-- CD rom, and mounting both cd's; the cdwriter is in /dev/scd0 as /cdrom0 and the other cd in /dev/scd1 as /cdrom); however, I keep getting these messages, and I don't know what they mean:

These are the (relevant?) lines from my modules.conf file **** alias scd0 sr_mod alias scd1 sr_mod alias scsi_hostadapter ide-scsi options ide-cd ignore=hdc # CD-write options ide-cd ignore=hdd # same
alias block-major-11 sr_mod
What should I do?
Yeah, I've seen something like that before. It sounds like you've set sr_mod to the major-11, and either it's the wrong module or it isn't there. See if sr_mod is in your /lib/modules.
Thanks. However, sr_mod is in the /lib/modules/2.2.13/scsi directory, and from what I understand of the cd-writing howto, that is what I should have. I have been playing around, and I commented the lines above in my moduels.conf (except the one about acsi-hostadapter). Again, i can read cd's and write them, etc, but I still get the weird messages: when I mount a CD: Jan 16 13:20:17 ligarto kernel: Unable to get major 11 for SCSI-CD Jan 16 13:20:17 ligarto insmod: /lib/modules/2.2.13/scsi/sr_mod.o: init_module: Device or resource busy Jan 16 13:20:17 ligarto insmod: /lib/modules/2.2.13/scsi/sr_mod.o: insmod block-major-11 failed when I start xcdroast:
