This is my work around fix if it helps.... /var/log/xorg.0.log error in calling /usr/lib/dri/fglrx_dri.so when using a 64 bit system
Delete the /usr/lib/dri/fglrx_dri.so and assign a link to the x64 version... then check it with ls -ls
15 cd /usr/lib/dri/ 16 rm fglrx_dri.so 17 ln -s /usr/lib64/dri/fglrx_dri.so fglrx_dri.so 18 ls -ls 19 init 3
Hi Michael,
Thanks for that. Unfortunately, though, I now only get 120FPS in glxgears as opposed to 250 previously. It's lucky I'm not into fast graphics in a big way :-)
I think the lesson I've learnt from this is to stay away from ATI next time.
Cheers
Peter
Have you tried turning off 'wait for vertical refresh' in the ATI control panel? Glxgears went from 60(!) to 5000 fps when I did. The 3d-performance doesn't really bother me, not getting decent video playback is a whole lot worse..
