Maybe you need to configure your application? Go to the install directory and look for a configure script and start it. Best would be (if supported): make clean ./configure
But all this should be described in the documentation of your software.
Sometimes, the Kernel must be compiled (but not installed) before! goto /usr/src/linux
and first create/copy the kernel config:
if you already running the proper Kernel look for /boot/config* (or make menuconfig)
then run ./configure and make ..

(Maybe, best would be to look in the documentation for your Software or ask the developer .. :)
If i would know who the dev was... Kernel maintainers say to update the kernel to get the usb-modeswitch installed first. Than try to install the driver. Thank you for showing me this way again... was long years ago since i compiled sw myself... it is all coming back ... ;-) I will keep you posted.. -- Have a nice day, Oddball.
