from my aged memory of konsole actions, I would still say you have inadvertently made a config change or your system is inconsistant/borked.
Carlos makes the point that the use of "su" rather than "su -" can bork you config. That's why I always use menu: File -> New tab -> New Root tab to get a root shell.
