Hmmm, I have a SuSE 6.4 box running xntpd. It is sync's to three stratum 2 servers at the local university by just adding the server lines to the ntp.conf file. It is also acting as a time server to the other hosts on my network.
I didn't do anything to the time server host and simply added a server line in the other hosts pointing to the time server. It works fine.

I have a debian box which talks ntpd to a timeserver at clock.via.net. I then use ntpdate to talk with my box which talks with the timeserver. I have a cronjob which runs every 2 hours which synchs the time to my box. Works for me quite well. My cron job looks like: * */2 /usr/sbin/ntpdate -s 192.168.0.1 On my other home network systems. For 98, I found a ntp client at www.winfiles.com. There were no other steps I needed to take. -- Michael Perry mperry@tsoft.com ------------------
