If anyone is interested I can post (or sent as personal email) two programs I was give about 10 years ago called bsplit and bmerge. I used them to split large tar files into floppy size files and then reassemble into the original tar. Output from the bsplit command line is: Usage: bsplit [infile] [chunksize] [outbase] chunksize in bytes, kbytes, or mbytes (n/a, k|K, m|M) (set chunksize = H for High Density Floppy size) writes <outbase>.000, <outbase>.001...
