Greetings, all. I'm trying to install v7.2 via FTP, using my nearest FTP mirror. I boot from the boot floppy provided on the mirror; load the appropriate module for my NIC (I use cable 'net access, which appears to Linux as a LAN); choose the FTP install method; and enter my IP address, netmask (generic), and the IP address of the FTP mirror. However, the install program says that it can't find the mirror. I know the mirror's IP address is correct.
Hmmm. At that point you can switch to another console and get a shell. Make sure you actually do have a network connection, can ping your gateway, etc. Also, I'm not sure what a 'generic' netmask is so you may want to make you actually using the correct one. Otherwise, all I can suggest is trying another mirror: see http://www.suse.com/us/support/download/ftp/int_mirrors.html for a list. -- -ckm
