In my experience - I've had at least four Logitech trackballs over the last 25 years - Logitech trackballs are crap.
With my regular 8-10 hour daily office use maybe followed by some gaming, they have either worn out or just died. I have had one or two replaced on warranty within the first year, only for it to wear out within a year again.
What is wrong with yours I can't say, I'm only sharing my experience.
I have long since switched to a Kensington trackball, "Expert Mouse". I think it was recommended by someone here on the list.

I have been using this Logitech trackball for years https://www.bestbuy.com/site/logitech-ergo-m575-wireless-trackball-mouse-wit... Both wireless and wired units. Unless you use a hammer on one I have had no issues. I use two at home everyday and two more at the office in Wichita. Also have one to travel with for my laptop. -- "The dog is a gentleman.
