Usually the ball is easy to just pop out of the holder. It certainly was in the Marble FX and the M575, and the Kensington too.

Hmm, I don't recall even trying to clean any wheels - maybe those trackballs just didn't last long enough. The Kensington has a scroll "ring", the only way to clean is with a toothbrush.
The wired version: (a wireless trackball seems ridiculous idea to me).

Wireles maybe for laptops or things used in the sitting room, on the lap.
Still does not make sense to me. For me, the trackball has to rest on a solid surface that also supports my wrist.
