Hello all. NOOB here. I just installed Suse 10.0 on a Dell Inspiron 4100 laptop with a GeForece2Go video card in it. Everything installed fine but my desktop only takes up an area of about 6 inches by 6 inches on my monitor. I went into the System config and tried to change display size in the X server but when I click on the "size" buttons nothing happens. What am I missing. If you need more info please tell me.
You have to set up the resolution in YaST2/Hardware/Graphics. That is: set a resolution for X-Window that is the same as the actual physical resolution of your LCD screen. The "size" refers to the dimension of the screen (in milimetres). It is not related to the resolution (number of pixels). You can set up whatever size you want, you'll still get the 6"x6". Before setting the resolution, see the Monitors section. SUSE didn't know about your monitor, so it defaulted to a low-res generic model. That's why you're seeing the small image. Choose LCD-your-actual-res. `
