My Trash Can is empty! I know I have seen this before but can't remember what I need to do to fix it.
rpm -f ./VirtualDrive.vdi
and your "Trash Can" won't care :^)

I'm pretty sure Patrick meant rm -f ./VirtualDrive.vdi instead of "rpm". And for future reference of others the actual location of trashed files is ~/.local/share/Trash, if you need to manually sort out problems that's where to look.
