You KNOW?
I'm finding that if left alone for a while (I don't know exactly how long), the machine seems to power itself down automatically. I'm trying to prevent this behavior.
Only a few possibilities I can think of. 1. Check your BIOS power management settings. This can be set to auto power down after a set time. 2. Misconfigured UPS software. 3. Failing power supply, or heat in general. Some MB have an autoshutdown to save a CPU from meltdown, or at least the temp is configurable. 4. You added 'shutdown -h now' to cron (doubtful, but for completeness) 5. Faulty ACPI implementation (maybe?). Try boot parameter acpi=off or better pci=acpi.
The second question I wanted to ask is,
It is better to ask ONE question per post. They are easier to answer, might elicit more and better answers (i.e. if they were clueless on the first they might just skip the whole message).
how can I make my mouse cursor larger? There is an option, in the "Control Center", I believe, for "Peripherals | Mouse | General | Large Cursor" but that seems to have no effect. The cursor is always small, even after re-boot.
Maybe try a mouse theme from kde-look.org -- Joe Morris New Tribes Mission Email Address: Joe_Morris@ntm.org Web Address: http://www.mydestiny.net/~joe_morris Registered Linux user 231871 God said, I AM that I AM. I say, by the grace of God, I am what I am.
