Hi, Gordon,
I may have misled inadvertently- I had some problems (slow boots, boot hanging) when using SuSE 9.0, when USB devices were plugged in, whether or not they were switched on. (In another reply I have pointed out that I am using a Trust USB 4-way extension from one of the mb sockets).
When I installed 9.1 (clean install), I had no devices plugged in, neither did I when I upgraded from 9.0 on another drive. I have had no problems with 9.1 and USB (tempts fate, crosses fingers), but this may be because I only have "plug-in when I need them" devices, and none were plugged in when I installed.
I have had no problems with 9.1- but that may be because of the above.
Terence
When I performed a clean install of 9.1 I had no devices plugged in. (As noted above, the install hung *if* my USB Zip drive was plugged in.) The difference appears to be that once the install completes, the drive (when plugged in) is not recognized. I have no problem rebooting with the drive plugged in; I just can't use it for anything but a paperweight. (Note that after walking across the room and plugging it into my Win2K box, the drive works fine.) Cheers, Gordon Keehn
