Hi,
I'm having some problems with Adaptec 2100S with Suse 9.2
I'm using dpt_i2o scsci module to load this controller and all works fine.
The controller is used only by DAT SONY Model: SDX-700C (no disks are used)
But sometimes, during backup process (read or write) the system just hangs and I need to reboot server (cpu load is very high and can't do anything else)
The /var/log/messagens report only this :

Any ideas to resolve this issue?

Nothing specific but all the normal SCSI troubleshooting should be applied first. ie. Good cables, proper termination, drive/controller compatibility, etc. I've had issues with all of the above in a SUSE Linux box and the log messages are anything but clear as to what the problem is. If your sure your hardware is good, I also have to run stinit with my drive before it works right. Specifically with 10.0 and no stinit my tape drive appears to make backups, but the restores fail. After I run stinit it works. stinit is in the mt_st package on the purchased DVD (not the CDs, nor the downloadable ISOs) Once you install the mt_st package you have to edit the /etc/stinit.conf file specifically for your drive.
