Jürgen,
That did it, thanks

Apologies to Jürgen, but I do feel this is bad advice. Using the FACTORY
repository, soon (June) you will have one source that is going to be
nothing but 10.2 alpha material. You should instead use
http:///opensuse/distribution/SL-10.1/inst-source
which will keep all your installation sources as "pure" 10.1.
I just checked mirrors.kernel.org, and the package gstreamer-plugins
does contain libgstinterfaces-0.8.so.0. The reason it is not on your DVD
is because a great many packages on the repository are not included in
the distribution CDs (all the packages would require 7 or 8 CDs total).
PS. There is also a package gstreamer010-plugins-base which contains
libgstinterfaces-0.10.so.0, on which a number of other packages seem to
depend. However, you should probably not just go ahead and install this,
but let Yast take care of the dependencies if you ever install something
that does need it.
