Thank you for stating that. This is a valuable lesson. I must say I am puzzled by the inconvenient upgrade path openSUSE (and most other distributions) offer. When you think about it any given system is only the sum of the kernel, gnu-utils and software packages like kde and X11. Look at Linux from scratch, you wouldn't install the whole system twice because this is a waist of time, you only upgrade the packages you need/want. In short we use the 'cathedral' model for handeling 'bazar' type software. Where is the best place to propose an alternative?
