I have a headless box running SUSE 9 and for various reasons I would like to run it with the full GUI again. The problem is I can't remember how I made it run headless in the first place (I may have just set it in YAST) and I can't figure out how to return it to normal. I suspect early senility.
Change your init level. Your default runlevel is probably 3, which is full networking WITHOUT the GUI. Change /etc/inittab to 5 and you will have the GUI start at runtime for the console. # The default runlevel is defined here id:5:initdefault: Try maybe the runlevel editor in yast. I'm still kind old school when it comes to certain things and it's easier to just vi the file :) Now, had you thought about just accessing the desktop remotely? Even in runlevel 3, X apps should still work. brian -- Brian Jackson Photo Sports ~ Editorial ~ People ~ Travel ~ Events http://www.BrianJacksonPhoto.com
